Bohren & der Club of Gore is an instrumental band from Mülheim an der Ruhr and Cologne, Germany.
in 1996 guitarist Henseleit left and next year saxophonist Christoph Clöser joined the band. Gass also changed guitar to keyboards and Bohren has never used guitars since. The sound of the band changed and in 2000 a delicate and beautiful Sunset Mission was released. Group's metal background can't really be heard on this album. Jazz is the main thing now with atmospheric layers of keyboards and saxophone. The next album Black Earth was released in 2002. It continued where Sunset Mission stopped, but with an even darker sound. In 2005 a bleak and sparse Geisterfaust was released. For the album the band made a conscious decision to leave out saxophone this time. Instrument appears only in the last few minutes of the album. The tempo of the music on this record is even slower than on the previous ones. The newest album Dolores was released in October 2008. The diverse recording includes echoes from all the previous albums and also something new. In 2007 Bohren recorded a 10-minute track for Southern Records to be released on their Latitudes series.
